The Wells County D.A.R.E. program raised over $2,500.  A great big thank you to all who supported the program, including Sheriff Bob Frantz (who purchased the used cart), Scott Jackson (who painted the cart) and Steve Wendling(who found the used cart and hauled it around)

Drug Abuse Resistance Education began in Wells County in 1988. It is a demand reduction curriculum presenting essential life skills. DARE Officers of the Bluffton Police Department include School Resource Officer Bruce Holland, Chief Tammy Schaffer, Officer Dennis Fiscus and Sergeant Geoff Gilbert. DARE is taught in the Bluffton Harrison School district in first, fifth and sophomore levels. In addition, the DARE program is offered at Community Christian school, as well as Lancaster Elementary.

SRO Holland is a member of the DARE Indiana training team, which has allowed him to train many officers throughout the region as well as two DARE Officer Training’s in Germany.

DARE in Wells County is a cooperative effort by Bluffton Police and Wells County Sheriffs department, allowing for over 17,000 students, to date, to receive the positive message that the program delivers. DARE Officers of the Wells County Sheriff’s Department include, Deputies Kurt Powell, Steve Wendling and Jeff McClish.  Ossian Dare Officer is Stephanie Tucker.
