Bluffton Police Department Issues 39 Citations During Safe Family Travel Enforcement Effort Bluffton, IN. –

Officials from the Bluffton Police Department today announced that a total of 39 citations were issued during the 2009 Safe Family Travel enforcement blitz.

During the last two weeks in November, more than 250 law enforcement agencies across the state conducted increased seat belt and impaired driving patrols. The goal of the effort was to reduce the number of motorists injured or killed on Indiana roadways in the weeks surrounding the Thanksgiving holiday season.

“Bluffton officers dedicated a total of 40 hours of overtime to the prevention of Indiana traffic-related fatalities and injuries during this enforcement,” said Deputy Chief Nathan Huss. “Our efforts not only benefit the residents of Wells County, but motorists statewide.

During the mobilization, 10 seat belt patrols and 10 impaired driving patrols were conducted by Bluffton officers. 34 citations were issued to motorists for failure to wear a seat belt. A total of 72 citations and warnings were issued to motorists.
